Volunteer for Fleisher
Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer at Fleisher Art Memorial! This is a wonderful opportunity to have a
positive impact on the nation’s oldest free art school. The time and energy volunteers provide directly impacts the growth
and functioning of our organization. There are a variety of ways to support us, and the list is ever changing. Whether
volunteers work regular weekly schedules or on an as needed basis, we hope the experience is mutually beneficial. You can
get a sense for some of the opportunities currently available from the list below.
To apply, call Julia Taylor at 215.922.3456 ext. 310, send an email to jtaylor@fleisher.org, or download the volunteer application (PDF, 20K) and mail it to:

Volunteer opportunities at Fleisher include the following:
- Archiving and research
The Fleisher archives are full of documents and images from the organization’s more than one hundred years of history. Help
us to bring important artifacts to the surface, and make them available to the public.
- Library assistant
On Saturdays, Fleisher will be opening the library, inviting in children and their families who are here attending classes.
We would look to a volunteer to promote book donations, help visitors find the resources or entertainment they are looking
for, and to create a welcoming atmosphere.
- Exhibition and gallery work
There are many important ways to help out with exhibitions. Assist with the installation of shows, help monitor refreshment
tables during special events, or scan slides and gather information on past artists for the archives.
- Annual Fleisher Faculty Exhibition and Community Partnerships in the Arts Exhibiton
Week of May 5, 2008
Day and evening
Handle, hang, and label artworks with assistance from exhibition staff.
- Special Events
- ARTspiration!
Saturday, June 7, 2008
Shifts starting at 8:00 a.m. and running until 6:00 p.m.
Help this community arts festival run smoothly by welcoming visitors, manning booths, painting faces, decorating T-shirts, and much more.
- Fundraising
The Student Development Committee is made up of students who are interested in finding ways to raise money for Fleisher.
Their efforts keep classrooms filled with the equipment they need, teachers paid the salaries they deserve, and supplies
available to free classes.
- Gallery guide and monitor
On Saturdays, during the Children’s Program, we get many visitors to the gallery. We also see our exhibitions as a tool to
enhance the art education provided in the classrooms. If you love learning about art and would like to share what you know
with children and adults, this would be a wonderful volunteer position for you.
