The Fleisher Art Memorial is pleased to celebrate the professional artists of its teaching staff with the 112th Fleisher Faculty Exhibition, August 9th through September 19th, 2010. Each teaching artist is invited to exhibit work from his or her studio practice, resulting in an eclectic exhibition that includes painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, photography, and installation.
A closing reception for the artists will be held Sunday, September 19th, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. At the reception we will also celebrate the wonderful career of Warren Angle, who just retired after sixteen years at Fleisher. Admission to the exhibition and reception is free and open to the public. Gallery hours at Fleisher are: 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. (Monday through Friday), and — after fall classes resume on September 13th — 5:00 to 9:30 PM (Monday through Thursday). The Fleisher Art Memorial is located in South Philadelphia at 719 Catharine Street.
The members of the Fleisher Art Memorial's teaching staff are dedicated to the high standards of art education that have characterized the Memorial's century-old history. The active pursuit of dual professions in art and art education are evident in the busy teaching and exhibition schedules kept by the instructors, many of whom serve on the faculties of area universities, colleges, and art centers.
Fleisher offers a full range of tuition-free fine art instruction in drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, photography, and printmaking. In addition to the free evening classes, Fleisher offers low-cost advanced workshops which provide the student body extended access to the full range of skills and ideas offered by this talented gathering of artists/teachers.
