The Annual Fleisher Faculty Exhibition

MAY 10 — SEPTEMBER 26, 2008
Opening reception: Saturday, May 10, 4:30–6:30 p.m.

At the beginning of its second century, the Fleisher Art Memorial is pleased to showcase the artwork of its teaching staff with the Annual Fleisher Faculty Exhibition, May 10th through September 26th, 2008. Each artist in the exhibition will show works selected from his or her current studio investigations — including painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, photography and installation.

An opening reception for the artists will be held Saturday, May 10th, from 4:30 to 6:30 PM. Admission to the exhibition and reception is free and open to the public. Gallery hours at Fleisher are: 11:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. (Monday through Friday), and — until May 17th and after summer classes resume on June 9th — 6:30 to 9:30 PM (Monday through Thursday). The Fleisher Art Memorial is located in South Philadelphia at 719 Catharine Street.

The members of the Fleisher Art Memorial's teaching staff are dedicated to the high standards of art education that have characterized the Memorial's 110-year history. The active pursuit of dual professions in art and art education are evident in the busy teaching and exhibition schedules kept by the instructors, many of whom serve on the faculties of area universities, colleges, and art centers.

Fleisher offers a full range of tuition-free open-enrollment fine art instruction in drawing, painting and sculpture and special-enrollment classes in printmaking, photography and ceramics. In addition to the free evening classes held Tuesday through Thursday during the fall and spring semesters, Fleisher offers low-tuition advanced workshops which provide the student body extended access to the full range of skills and ideas offered by this talented gathering of artists/teachers.

The Fleisher faculty members included in the Annual Faculty Exhibition come from all areas of the greater Philadelphia region:
