I paint from life because direct observation provides a continual dialogue between mystery and revelation. Each painting is an encounter with a specific subject at a specific moment. I describe visual appearance in pieces of color with the intention of conveying equivalence to a given subject. The movement of light is my primary concern in choice of composition.
