Kanter suggests that her art is not something she makes, but rather something made evident by uncovering the potential hidden in her materials. Conceptual references, physical capabilities, processes, and specific choices regarding materials inform this appraisal of potential. Kanter uncovers, exaggerates and gives order to what was already there -- but could have easily been passed by. Ms. Kanter received her B.F.A. degree from the University of the Arts (Philadelphia PA) and her M.F.A. from Cranbrook Academy of Art (Bloomfield Hills MI).
