Jim Hinz

Untitled from Jurisdiction, 1999, Thread, wood
Artist Jim Hinz produces works both in two and three dimensions. He calls this exhibition "Dream House" consisting of a series of large graphite drawings (45"X 30") on paper. The drawings utilize crisp, sharp lines as well as blocked shapes, and many of the works imply land formations, buildings and the sky. Though the images tend to be abstract one can see recognizable elevations of surreal or un-real architecture and topography that make unexpected appearances. He sees this work as mental interiors and landscapes as well as houses of visual thought and contemplation. Mr. Hinz received his B.F.A. from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis and M.F.A. from the University of the Arts.
