Carson Fox

Not Enough, 2003, wire, 10' x 7'
Carson Fox creates sculpture inspired by memorial hair jewelry of the Victorian era. The Victorian objects were crafted out of the hair of a deceased loved one to act as a memento of the departed individual. The sudden death of family members in late 2001 prompted Fox to consider these historical objects more thoughtfully and she was inspired to start making her own hair-like sculpture out of very thin wire which she fashioned into text. In these works, Fox investigates her own feelings regarding loss and remorse. Ms. Fox received her B.F.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and her M.F.A. from Rutgers University.
