Brian David Dennis

Roustabout's Hold, 2001, mixed media, 12 x 25 x 23 feet
Brian David Dennis presents an installation entitled Roustabout's Hold, a large cloud anchored within a labyrinth. The cloud is constructed of folded metal screening and lit by a cluster of bare light bulbs hanging in the center of the form. Thematically the piece is concerned with identifying and capturing the ethereal -- be it air, memories, or desires. The historic symbolism of the labyrinth acts as an invitation for reflection as well as containing references to creation myths, DNA, and rites of passage. Mr. Dennis studied at the Baum School of Art (Allentown PA), The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (Philadelphia PA), and Barnstone Studio (Coply PA).
