Stacy Collingham

Synchronized Swirl, 1998, acrylic on canvas, 59"x71"
One of my interests with the work was to examine how girls' identities establish themselves within a group. To enhance the content in a given piece I use formal devices such as collaging dried paint or fabric onto the surfaces. This heightens the emotional and physical response to the work, tying it to the adolescent experience.
