VISITOR SERVICES ASSISTANT

The Visitor Services department at Fleisher strives to provide a professional, welcoming, safe and accommodating environment for all of Fleisher’s constituents. Led by the Visitor Services Manager, the visitor service team provides a priceless first and lasting impression to all of Fleisher’s 17,000 annual visitors. Visitor Services Assistants serve as an advocate for the visitor while simultaneously promoting the welfare of Fleisher; communicate with a variety of visitors with diverse interests and abilities to ensure a positive experience; resolve visitor concerns and complaints to their satisfaction and to Fleisher’s; anticipate visitor's needs and graciously provide information and assistance in a friendly and helpful manner. The work of the Visitor Services department runs parallel to Fleisher’s mission to make art accessible to all.
Who you are
You are a self-motivated professional – personable and out-going, reliable, hard working and detail oriented. You are a smart, thoughtful, and clear thinker, who values open communication, is able to give and receive constructive feedback, and is supportive of a team-oriented environment. You are able to multi-task and bring a “can-do” attitude to the position. You are comfortable working with a wide variety of audiences which includes Fleisher colleagues, artists, faculty members, community partners, and students in Fleisher’s arts education programming.
You are an excellent organizer, who enjoys creating efficient solutions, and appreciates working with colleagues to incorporate suggestions and new perspectives in your work. You have a professional demeanor, especially under pressure and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and react effectively in a busy environment. You are patient, open to change and continual improvement, and understand that progress takes time and effort.
What you will do
With guidance from the Visitor Services Manager you will support the department manager and work closely in with all the other Fleisher departments. You will interact with students and faculty members on a daily basis in answering questions, assist with the registration process, direct phone calls, and maintain the safety of Fleisher’s building. You will be asked to help us interact and support our community engagement efforts as Fleisher makes strides to grow closer to the surrounding community. You will be asked to track visitor attendance and manage recordkeeping and payments. Overall, you will be one of the faces of Fleisher visitors can rely on and perform front-desk operations with a focus on customer service, organization, and efficiency ensuring visitors are attended to professionally and promptly
More about you
You have a high school diploma or equivalent. You may be early in your arts education career and are seeking a position in which you can support arts education at a leading cultural organization in Philadelphia. You have the ability to communicate thoughtfully and clearly with audiences of diverse ages, backgrounds, and ethnicities. You find comfort and familiarity in a busy office setting and you have strong administrative skills and enjoy working collaboratively. You are efficient and highly organized. You are computer proficient with Microsoft Office and have the ability to learn and use constituent management database software to its fullest capabilities. You are empathetic, thoughtful and a diplomat, easily able to recognize and use your influence within and on behalf of an organization. Preferred would be someone who was multi-lingual in one or more of the following: Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Khmer. Evening and weekend work will be required.

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN TEACHING AT FLEISHER?
Fleisher evaluates candidates for teaching positions on an ongoing basis. We are always looking for experienced artists to teach our adult and youth classes, as well as our off-site in-school and after-school residency programs.

TEEN LOUNGE TEACHING ARTIST R.F.P.
Fleisher’s Teen Lounge provides young people with opportunities to work with experienced Teaching Artists from around the region. Participating teens evaluate proposals submitted by Teaching Artists through the RFP (Request for Proposals) process.
Teen Lounge at Fleisher Art Memorial is accepting project proposals from teaching artists for the 2010-2011 school year. The workshops should offer young people between the ages 13 —18 exciting opportunity to be introduced to a medium or explore a theme of relevance to this age group and be completed in 6-8 hours (3-4 sessions) maximum. Teaching artists will be paid $150 for every two-hour workshop. Experimental workshop proposals welcome. The sessions will be held on Wednesdays from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Approximately 15 students attend our Teen Lounge from a variety of levels in art making experiences.
Proposals will be reviewed and selected by the members of the Teen Lounge. Please make sure to use clear and direct language. The teens will be the only group deciding on which projects to select. Also, please provide the following in your proposal and stick to the requirements to be considered:

Complete a one page project proposal that includes

- Project description — this should include the length of your proposed workshop series (3-4 sessions) and an outline of each session
- Objectives and goals
- Proposed Expenses (maximum of $150.00 supply budget)— basic materials such as scissors, glue, pencils, paper will be provided by Fleisher. Any additional materials should be included in your proposed expenses
- Your availability — all workshops will take place on Tuesdays or Wednesdays during the 2011-2012 school year
- Artist statement (brief) — this statement should allow us to understand how this workshop series and/or work with young people are of interest of you as an artist.
- Résumé that includes three references (name, phone number, email)
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance and Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record check; please email lfernandez@fleisher.org for information on how to obtain your clearancesif you do not have your clearances
- 1 page of 3 Images of your work with descriptions — title, size, medium, date (no more than 3 will be considered)
- 1 page of 3 Images of your students' work with descriptions — title, size, medium, date, ages of students

Internships may be arranged for credit with a college or university. These internships occasionally offer a stipend payable by the college or university. Fleisher does not offer any paid internships. Unpaid internships may be arranged for personal enrichment and are considered on a rolling basis.
