Tile-Making Project (grades 5 &6)

This tile project at the Nebinger School is based on the work of a little-known African American quilter.
Mosaic artist Jessica Gorlin-Liddell taught tile projects with the 5 & 6th grade classes at Nebinger School in conjunction with Margo Tassi, the school’s art teacher. The 5th grade class created a tile installation in the school based on African Adinkra symbols. The 6th grade class recreated (in tiles) a quilt by an obscure African American quilter. The piece is permanently installed in a hallway at the School. The class also visited the Mercer Museum and Henry Chapman Mercer’s home "Fonthill" in Doylestown. Artist: Jessica Gorlin-Liddell
