The Snowflake Project (K-2nd Grade)

Developed in collaboration with the kindergarten-2nd grade Small Learning Community at Meredith School in the School District’s Furness Cluster, this interdisciplinary three-week residency integrated art, language arts, math and science. Using turn-of-the-last-century micro-photographs of snowflakes by William Bentley as a starting-off point, children read stories and wrote about, made collages and prints of, and did scientific experiments in this exploration of the structure, character, and beauty of snowflakes.
