Sculpture As Sound (4th-12th Grade)

Developed by Fleisher-in-residence composer Tina Davidson, this 12-week project draws on math, physics, and literacy skills to teach children about rhythm, pitch and melody, and how to engineer and control sound through the use of different materials. During the project, students make their own musical instruments out of found materials and, through the use of notation systems they create themselves, compose and perform music for their instruments.
