Students began by learning about the costume of the Mogul Empire In India. Taking advantage of a visit to the Indian gallery at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, students learned about history, mythology and artistic traditions. Students then explored and translated their own identity exhibited in their personal costume and culture and utilized a variety of printing and painting techniques to visually realize their investigations.
Right: A student translates her identity into a symbol painted on cloth.
