Our affordable workshops span all visual arts disciplines, and — with fewer than fifteen people in a class — you will have access to the one-on-one instruction you crave with faculty who will support your personal artistic goals. Our tuition assistance program is designed to make Fleisher's classes as easily accessible to you as possible.

Please register no later than June 21st.
Workshops that have not received the minimum number of required enrollments by June 21st will be cancelled. Registrations for workshops that have received minimum enrollment will continue to be accepted after June 21st. Fleisher workshops fill quickly, so early registration is recommended.

This class introduces students to the technical, historical, and aesthetic context of decorative and functional ceramic tiles and mosaics. Students use press molds in combination with other mosaic materials to create a finished pieces. The emphasis will be on design, pattern, construction, and finished presentation. All experience levels welcome. Tuition: $125 (members), $145 (non-members), plus $30 lab fee for firing and glazing.

This workshop introduces the beginning student to the many aspects of digital photography, including: understanding how your digital camera works, strategies for taking better photos, how to use Adobe Photoshop Elements® to make basic adjustments to images, how to get great prints, and more. The lab is equipped with PCs, but students are welcome to bring Mac or PC laptops. Class size limited to 12 students. This class will cover all aspects of creating your own photographic pop-up book. We go through a brief history of pop-up books, learn basic terminology, and create the structures needed to build your own greeting cards or books. Students will learn how to scan and use Photoshop and bind the final work. The teacher will work individually with students to plan and construct a functional pop-up that can be reproduced if necessary. Basic mechanisms will transform into seemingly complex constructions! In this course, students build a vocabulary of embroidery stitches and experience stitching on a variety of surfaces for both decorative and fine-art purposes. Every semester features different surface design techniques such as photocopy transfer, painting on fabric, shibori dyeing, fabric collage, bead embellishment, and more. Through visual analysis students will learn how to break down the human form into its component parts to better understand the body in space. Enjoy a creative studio environment devoted to learning, discussion and much painting. Do you have painting experience already? Then bring your supplies and be ready to paint. Never painted before, but want to learn? At the first class you’ll learn what materials you’ll need and you’ll be guided on how to plan your painted image. By the end of the term you’ll be thinking and painting like a true artist and you’ll have a painting or two to prove it. Subject matter will be mostly still life, but artists wishing to work from photos or abstractly from their imaginations are welcome. Class size limited to 14 students. Polyester plates, also known as Pronto or Smart Plates, give the look of stone lithographic prints but without the grinding and etching. Draw images directly on the plate with any waterproof material or transfer photocopies for image-making. The transparency of the plates allows for simple registration for multi-color printing. From the cave paintings of Lascaux to Picasso’s Guernica, Western painting has depicted stories from history, literature, mythology, religion, legend, and politics. This course aims toward developing paintings that depict an artist’s own story. By using photographs, still life, sketches, and research, students develop their own stories in their paintings. Interested in combining creative content (imagery, poetry, etc.) with the structure of the book? Co-teachers Sharon Hildebrand and Wendy Woloson will work closely with students throughout the semester to help them marry form and content in new ways to best express the students' personal creative visions. Printmaking techniques will concentrate on immediate, low-tech, and non-acidic approaches that will create text and images easily integrated into book structures. Class size limited to 12 students. Fleisher workshops fill fast, so early registration is recommended. The deadline for receiving registrations is June 21st. Registrations for open workshops will be accepted after the deadlines, but workshops that have not met minimum enrollment levels by this date will be cancelled.

Tuition, Materials Fees, and Membership
All participants in Fleisher's summer workshops are requested to give a membership contribution in addition to the tuition fees (for adults: $15 for the semester, or $60 for a full twelve months; for children: $10 for the semester; for families: $90 for a full twelve months). Tuition costs with model, firing, and/or materials fees are listed with each course description.

Tuition Assistance is available on a limited basis; write to eromick@fleisher.org, call 215.922.3456, ext. 348, or download a financial aid form before you register. The deadlines for submitting financial aid forms is June 21st.

Refunds/ Withdrawals
If Fleisher cancels a workshop due to inadequate enrollment, registrants will receive full refunds for all fees paid for that class, excluding memberships. Students who wish to withdraw from a class after registering must notify Fleisher's Registrar in writing in order to receive a refund.
Adult workshops: 75% of the tuition will be refunded before the first class, 50% before the second class, and 25% before the third class. After the third class, there are no refunds. Children, Teen, and Parent workshops: 75% of the tuition will be refunded before the first class. After the first class, there are no refunds
