Perfect for those ready to enter the world of art making for the very first time, this workshop will teach participants composition, design, tone, line and perspective progressing from simple design projects to more visually complex subject matter. Tuition: $200(members), $225 (non-members), plus $25 materials fee (most materials will be provided).
Kiln-fired Glass: Casting [AW331] |

This workshop offers an introduction to kiln-fired cast glass. Types and properties of glass, annealing, and mold making are discussed. Techniques may be used to create both sculptural and functional objects. Glass will be available for purchase. Students should plan to spend approximately $50 for materials. Tuition: $200 members, $225 nonmembers, plus $30 firing fee.

Enjoy your morning hours in a creative studio environment devoted to learning, discussion and much painting. Do you have painting experience already? Then bring your supplies and be ready to paint. Never painted before, but want to learn? At the first class you’ll learn what materials you’ll need and you’ll be guided on how to plan your painted image. By the end of these ten sessions you’ll be thinking and painting like a true artist and you’ll have a painting or two to prove it. Subject matter will be mostly still life, but artists wishing to work from photos or abstractly from their imaginations are welcome.

From sketchbook studies to finished watercolors, this workshop challenges painters already familiar with watercolor technique, Students explore the many aspects of watercolor through the use of still-life arrangements, landscape and personal imagery. Tuition: $200 (members), $225 (non-members)
Woodcut Printing [AW332] |

This introductory course will familiarize students with the woodcutting tools and methods to allow them to carve their own blocks and produce prints. Students will explore carving techniques to obtain a range of texture, depth and dramatic contrast to create strong visual statements with their work. Studying examples of the woodcut throughout history will allow students to see different possibilities of expression. $200 (members) $225 (non-members); plus $35 materials fee

This class will introduce students with some prior knowledge of photography to taking, manipulating, and producing digital images. Students will learn to streamline their workflow, upload and organize their digital images, process RAW format files, create quality prints from digital images, use Photoshop Elements to enhance color, sizing, sharpening, and more. Computer literacy is required, though prior knowledge of Photoshop Elements is not necessary. Tuition: $200 (members), $225 (non-members), plus $35 lab fee

This most basic workshop is for people who need to know how to use their digital cameras and may or may not have previous photography experience. Students do not need to be computer savvy but will learn how to look at, alter, and print their photographs with Photoshop Elements. Tuition: $200 (members), $225 (non-members), plus $35 lab fee

For the serious amateur photographer with an interest in learning how a non-automatic camera works, this workshop focuses on how to develop, print, and manipulate black-and-white images. Students must have their own manual 35-mm cameras. Limited to ten students.

This workshop is for experienced artists who need time in the lithography and etching studios. Participants must have technical proficiency, be capable of working independently, and have a valid Fleisher membership. Fee: $125 (for unlimited use during posted hours) for those previously approved for studio use, or $175 for new participants (includes orientation session).
