What is the Teen Lounge?
Fleisher offers a special after school experience for young people ages 13 - 19 in our Teen Lounge, a free, drop-in after school program focused on the visual arts. Here, teens work collaboratively with teaching artists and their peers on projects that will develop their artistic skills, allow them to experiment with new media and artistic techniques, and build confidence in their own creative expression.

Teen participants describe the Teen Lounge as a "stress-free," "friendly" environment, where they can "meet people from lots of different backgrounds and make friends."

What kind of projects do the students work on?
With guidance from Fleisher 's Teen Lounge Monitor, Teens develop their own creative program by choosing the artists with whom they wish to work. Projects are often collaborative and rely on a strong group dynamic, allowing teens to explore media ranging from clay, painting, and silkscreen to stop motion animation and darkroom photography. As one teen participant put it, the Teen Lounge "twists your view on art - I had no idea what art could be before I came here!"

The Southeast Philadelphia Collaborative
Teens also participate in community events as part of the Southeast Philadelphia Collaborative (SEPC) - a consortium of neighborhood-based organizations dedicated to providing educational, safe, fun and inspiring learning and social environments for youth ages 5 - 18.

Transportation
Getting to Fleisher using public transportation is easy on either the 47 or 40 buses.

Teen Lounge: 1st session [TLFA-1] | monitor
4:00 to 6:00 PM

Teen Lounge provides self-directed opportunities for young people to meaningfully interact with outstanding local artists from a variety of disciplines. During these in-depth programs, students select their own projects, create artwork under the support and guidance of professional artists and Fleisher staff, and exhibit their work in a gallery specifically designed for their use.

*Rolling registration, program is on going- Spring program ends June 1st. Students may sign-up for any or all sessions.

Teen Lounge: 2nd session [TLFA-2] | monitor
4:00 to 6:00 P.M.

Teen Lounge provides self-directed opportunities for young people to meaningfully interact with outstanding local artists from a variety of disciplines. During these in-depth programs, students select their own projects, create artwork under the support and guidance of professional artists and Fleisher staff, and exhibit their work in a gallery specifically designed for their use. The Tuesday session is set aside for structured projects in black-and-white film photography, including darkroom time.

The Tuesday sessions are set aside for projects with guest visiting artists.

4:00 to 6:00 PM
