After School at Fleisher

10 Weeks: September 12th - November 19th, 2011
Fleisher offers affordable afterschool workshops for children and youth ages 5 to 18 in a variety of media. Students engage in hands-on, art-making in a fun, supportive, and enriching environment. Afterschool workshops are designed to provide young people with opportunities to develop artistic skills, foster engagement with the arts, work collaboratively with their peers, encourage self-expression, and build confidence as a creative person.
Costs
Each workshop costs $150 for tuition plus a $25 lab fee, and runs for 10 weeks and during Fleisher’s fall, winter and spring terms. Workshops are offered in two sessions on Wednesdays:
Session Times
Session 1 runs on Wednesdays from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM
Session 2 runs on Wednesdays from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM
Transportation
Fleisher does not offer transportation from schools. Getting to Fleisher using public transportation is easy on either the 47 or 40 buses. Parents also frequently arrange carpools.

Ages 11 - 13 - Gadgets and Sculpture That Moves! with The Hacktory [CWFA-W-1] |

Get the geek bug by learning about mechanics and easy ways to modify everyday gadgets into art. Students will learn basic hand tools, explore and disassemble machines, and create simple kinetic sculptures out of household items in partnership with The Hacktory, a local non-profit whose mission is to promote the use of technology in the arts. This class is limited to 15 students of ages 8-10. Students should bring a snack along. Tuition: $150, plus $25 materials fee
