Fall 2007 General Program Information

Programs for adults are divided into two distinct types:

Classes, which are free… provide a solid foundation in drawing, painting, and sculpture. Twenty-four open-enrollment classes in drawing, painting, and sculpture, held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights — plus a life drawing studio class for Fleisher members on Saturday afternoon, compose the major part of the free-tuition program. Students in these classes are encouraged to transfer freely between classes throughout the term, so they can create a self-motivated educational plan.

A small portion of this program consists of limited-enrollment classes — ceramics, photography, and printmaking. These classes require special registration and have strict enrollment policies.

Workshops, which require tuition… complement the basic foundation provided by free classes and offer increased studio time, smaller classes, advanced study, and both daytime and evening hours. Take a look at the Monday workshops and special workshops available this semester.

Fleisher Student Memberships
Memberships support Fleisher programs, so help us maintain this unique organization. Adult memberships for a single semester are $30 (child memberships are $15), or $60 for an adult annual membership ($40 for senior citizens; $90 for a household) valid for twelve months from date of purchase. Memberships are nonrefundable and are not transferable to other terms.

Fleisher members receive special notice of receptions for exhibitions, discounts on workshop tuition, free general admission to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, a 10% discount in Fleisher's supply store, and discounted tickets for concerts and events at Fleisher. Even if you have no ambition to make art yourself, consider membership at Fleisher as an investment in future generations of artists — one that offers valuable benefits to artists and art lovers alike!

Materials
Adult students must provide their own materials. Most are available for purchase in the Fleisher school store, located on the ground floor of our Catharine Street facility. Students receive a 10% discount on purchases with their valid Fleisher membership card. For health and safety reasons, students are prohibited from using turpentine and spray fixatives on the Fleisher premises. Odorless paint thinner, dust masks, and gloves are available in the school store. The school store is open when classes are in session. During the fall and spring semesters, store hours are Tuesday-Thursday, 6:30-8:00 P.M., and Saturday, 9:00-11:30 A.M. and 1:30-2:30 P.M. When Monday workshops are in session, the store is open 1:00-4:00 P.M., and 6:30-8:00 P.M.

Model Fee Card and Materials Fees
Students taking tuition-free classes using a model must present a prepaid model fee card in class each evening. Cards are available for purchase at the front desk or supply store. Prices are $4 for one class, $15 for four classes, and $30 for ten classes. Fleisher members showing their membership card at the time of purchase will be given bonuses of one additional night on the four-night card and two extra nights on the ten-night card. Model fee cards are valid through the end of the Spring 2008 term. [Note: adult workshops do not use model fee cards; model fees are charged instead.]

Materials fees are charged in classes that use materials that are more conveniently purchased in bulk by Fleisher. These fees are listed with their appropriate classes and must be paid at the time of registration — these fees are nonrefundable. See course descriptions for details.

WEATHER EMERGENCY CLOSING
Cancellation of classes due to inclement weather will be announced over KYW Newsradio (1060 FM) using the following numbers:
