2010 FOUNDER's AWARD
presentation to
CAROLE HAAS GRAVAGNO

5:30–7:30 PM, Friday, 18 June 2010
719 Catharine Street, Philadelphia PA

The Fleisher Art Memorial's Board of Directors and the Founder's Honorary Committee Co-Chairs, Governor Edward G. Rendell and Mayor Michael Nutter, are pleased to announce that Fleisher's 2010 Founder's Award will be presented to Carole Haas Gravagno, a compassionate advocate for youth and a friend of the arts. The award will be presented at the 21st Anniversary Founder's Award Gala on Friday, June 18th, at Fleisher.

Carole Haas Gravagno has strengthened Philadelphia's artistic and educational resources by sharing her expertise and generously contributing her time and talent to dozens of nonprofit organizations over the past 25 years. Carole currently serves on the boards of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Arden Theatre Company, Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, and The Please Touch Museum. Her past commitments include Art in City Hall, the National Liberty Museum, Settlement Music School, and Strings for Schools.

What impresses us most about Carole is her dedication and passion for the arts. She has personally reached out to help open doors of opportunity for young people in the region, transforming lives by providing access to art and encouraging them to invest in their own development. As Fleisher seeks to support the creativity of all students who wish to learn in their own ways and on their own terms, we are inspired by Carole's belief in the ability of art to change lives, and we thank her for making a wide range of cultural experiences possible for so many citizens.

Please join us on Friday, June 18th, from 5:30 to 7:30 PM to honor Carole Haas Gravagno and celebrate her commitment to the arts. The award will be presented at 6:30 PM.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER'S AWARD

Now in its twenty-first year, the Founder's Award celebrates Samuel Fleisher's lifelong goals. It is presented to individuals whose commitment and effort have made a significant contribution to expanding people's access to the arts, supporting excellence in artistic expression, and enriching Philadelphia's cultural resources.

This year's award was designed by students at Moore College of Art & Design. Students participated in a competitive process as part of a Junior/Senior metals class taught by Dawn Bergmaier.

Tickets to the reception are available.

Please purchase tickets online, or contact Meg Wise at 215.922.3456 ext. 311 for more information.

Please RSVP by June 11th.

Proceeds from the 21st Anniversary Founder's Award Gala will help support Fleisher's mission to make art accessible to all, regardless of economic means, background, or artistic experience.
