DECEMBER 2007
- On December 7th, Fleisher welcomed Dr. Sketchy's Philadelphia to the Sanctuary. The first event was a great success (James Mundie has posted pictures from that night here), and going forward will meet at Fleisher every third Friday of the month. [more info]
OCTOBER 2007
- Gross Anatomy at Stratasphere, October 6 through November 10, 2007, features a whole slew of Fleisher instructors and staff members, including Warren Angle (Challenge artist, 1983-1984), Ben Cohen, Elaine M. Erne (Challenge artist, 2006-2007), Geoff Hindle, and Nancy Wright. Stratasphere is located at 1854 Germantown Avenue, Philadelphia PA. [more info]
SEPTEMBER 2007
- Fleisher instructor Elaine M. Erne (Challenge artist, 2006-2007) presents Mr. Bunny and Friends at Nexus: Foundation for Today's Art, September 7 through October 15, 2007. Nexus is located in the Crane Arts Building, Suite #102, 1400 North American Street, Philadelphia PA.
- Fleisher instructor Hiro Sakaguchi (Challenge artist, 2004-2005) presents Traveler’s Tale at Seraphin Gallery, September 7 through October 7, 2007. Seraphin Gallery is located at 1108 Pine Street, Philadelphia PA.
JUNE 2007
- On June 16th, Fleisher held ARTspiration — a Community Arts Festival funded by the National Endowment for the Arts. The day-long event offered an exuberant round of art, music, and dance activities for youth and their families. Over 600 people — many of them new to Fleisher — attended the event.
- Fleisher registrar James Mundie (Challenge artist, 1999-2000) has a drawing featured in Art of the State: Pennsylvania 2007 at The State Museum of Pennsylvania, June 9 through September 9, 2007. The drawing, Young Lady with a Parasitic Twin Wearing a Mantilla and Basquiña, received the 3rd Prize for Works on Paper. The Pennsylvania State Museum is located at 300 North Street, Harrisburg PA.
Additionally, James has received a 2007 Alumni Travel Grant from the Center for Emerging Visual Artists. James will be using the funds from this grant to visit medical collections in Europe. He hopes to spend time in several museums, drawing and sketching on site from unusual specimens in order to find new source material for a body of work tentatively titled Cabinet of Curiosities.
MAY 2007
- On May 21st, Fleisher bestowed the 2007 Founder's Award upon Anne d'Harnoncourt, The George D. Widener Director and CEO of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The event received generous support from 150 sponsors and guests, raising more than $100,000 for Fleisher's art education program.
APRIL 2007
- Fleisher instructor Elaine M. Erne (Challenge artist, 2006-2007) presents The Lives and Traumas of Stuffed Animals at bahdeebahdu, April 6 through May 2, 2007. Bahdeebahdu is located at 309 Cherry Street, Philadelphia PA.
MARCH 2007
- Faculty member James E. Duprée presents Stolen Dreams: Forbidden Fruit at Kiaca Gallery, March 3 through April 29, 2007. Kiaca Gallery is located at 937 North High Street, Columbus OH.
- Several Fleisher faculty members and students are participating in Synthesis: Friends of 705, an exhibition of contemporary prints from the etching studio of the Fleisher Art Memorial. Synthesis will take place at the Da Vinci Art Alliance, March 4 through 31, 2007. Da Vinci Art Alliance is located at 704 Catharine Street, Philadelphia PA.

- Faculty members Nancy M. Sophy, Hiro Sakaguchi (Challenge artist, 2004-2005), former faculty Julia Stratton, and Vincent David Feldman (Challenge artist, 2001-2002) are featured in 2005 Alumni Travel Grantees Exhibition at The Center for Emerging Visual Artists, February 1 through 22, 2007. - Daniel Heyman (Challenge artist, 2005-2006) presents Abu Ghraib Detainee Interview Project at The Print Center, February 22 through May 5, 2007. The Print Center is located at 1614 Latimer Street, Philadelphia PA.
